According to Samkhya Philosophy, the entire universe and all beings have these three Gunas – Sadhguru speaks about the three basic gunas – tamas, rajas, and sattva, and tells us how not to “miss the point” of Navratri. These concepts represent the qualities that are present in food, nature and actions, as well as our body and mind. All three are necessary to construct, observe, and interact with our world; sattva for direction, rajas for action, and tamas for persistence. There are some natural ways to reduce the excess of Rajas guna. Sattva Rajas Tamas – These are the basic components of creation. Rajas is that first attempt of the mind to protect and offer sensory or emotional stimulation, creating a temporary experience of satisfaction. Tamas is inertia, darkness and dullness. You can do this by eating sattvic food such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. These three elements can be realized only via 6 th sense. Increasing sattva is possible by reducing rajas and tamas, both in your mind and in your body.
